Coliwi at CIOSH 2026 Shanghai: How MRC’s Industrial Wiping Brand Made Its Mark at the 110th Labor Protection Exhibition

News Wipestar

Three days. Hundreds of conversations. One consistent message from every procurement manager, safety director, and production engineer who stopped by the booth: the cleaning consumable is the last thing people think about — until it causes a problem.

That’s exactly why we were at CIOSH 2026. The 110th China International Occupational Safety & Health Exhibition wrapped up in Shanghai on April 9th, and Coliwi — MRC Group’s industrial wiping brand — was there at Hall E5, Booth 5E30 for all three days. Here’s what happened, what we showed, and what it means for the industrial wiping market heading into the second half of 2026.

What CIOSH Is — And Why It Matters for Industrial Cleaning

CIOSH has been running for over two decades, and the 110th edition at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre is one of the largest in the show’s history. It’s the Asia-Pacific region’s flagship event for occupational safety and health — which covers everything from respiratory protection and fall arrest systems to industrial hygiene and contamination control.

Industrial wiping products don’t always get top billing at safety exhibitions. They tend to sit in the shadow of more visible PPE categories — hard hats, gloves, safety footwear. But anyone who’s spent time on a production floor knows that contamination control is a safety issue, not just a quality issue. A wipe that sheds fibers into a precision instrument, leaves solvent residue on a food contact surface, or fails to remove a hazardous substance from a work area isn’t just a quality problem — it’s a workplace safety problem. That’s the conversation Coliwi was there to have.

The 110th Edition: Scale and Focus

This year’s show brought together exhibitors and visitors from across the manufacturing, pharmaceutical, construction, and logistics sectors. The focus areas included personal protective equipment, workplace safety systems, occupational health solutions, and industrial cleaning and contamination control — the last of which is where Coliwi’s product line sits directly.

For procurement managers attending CIOSH, the value is in the concentrated access to suppliers and the ability to compare products side by side. For manufacturers like Coliwi, it’s the chance to show how products solve real problems — not in a catalog, but in a live demonstration with the people who actually specify and use them.

What Coliwi Brought to the Show Floor

Coliwi is the industrial wiping brand under MRC Group — the same organization behind WIPESTAR’s cleanroom consumables. If you’re familiar with WIPESTAR’s wiping cloths or cleanroom swabs, you already know the manufacturing quality level. Coliwi brings that same production expertise to the broader industrial wiping and labor protection market — products designed for environments where contamination control matters, but without the full cleanroom classification overhead.

The product range on display at CIOSH 2026 covered three core application scenarios:

Daily Industrial Cleaning

The backbone of the Coliwi range — general-purpose industrial wiping cloths for the daily cleaning tasks that happen across every production environment. CNC machine wipe-downs, equipment surface maintenance, workbench cleaning, and the routine contamination control that keeps a production line running cleanly. Products like the W2202 Universal Wiping Cloth (X6) and the W1501 Multi-Purpose Wipes Foldable represent this tier — fast absorption, low debris shedding, solvent compatible, and built for the fluid loads that industrial manufacturing generates every shift.

Special Environment Protection

Environments with specific contamination control requirements — ESD-sensitive electronics assembly, pharmaceutical production, aerospace manufacturing — need wiping products that go beyond general-purpose specifications. Coliwi’s special environment range draws directly on MRC Group’s cleanroom manufacturing expertise. The WP3302 ESD Polyester Cleanroom Wipers were among the products generating the most interest from electronics and semiconductor visitors — the combination of ESD protection and cleanroom-grade particle control addresses a specific gap that many facilities struggle to fill with general-purpose alternatives.

Precision Instrument Maintenance

The third scenario — and the one that generated the most detailed technical conversations at the booth — is precision instrument and tooling maintenance. Optical components, precision mold surfaces, mirror-finish rollers, and semiconductor equipment all require wiping products that are gentle enough not to scratch, clean enough not to contaminate, and durable enough to handle the mechanical demands of maintenance work. The W3401 Ultrasoft Surface Preparation Wipes and the microfiber surface preparation range were the products most discussed in this context.

Three Days on the Show Floor: What the Conversations Revealed

I spent all three days at the booth, and the pattern of conversations was consistent enough to be worth documenting. The visitors who engaged most deeply weren’t the ones looking for the cheapest wipe — they were the ones dealing with a specific cleaning problem that their current product wasn’t solving.

The Fiber Shedding Problem

More than a few procurement managers came to the booth specifically because they’d had quality events traced back to fiber contamination from their current wiping cloths. This is a more common problem than the industry acknowledges publicly — a wipe that sheds fibers into a precision assembly or a pharmaceutical batch can cause a defect or a contamination event that costs far more than the wipe itself. The low debris shedding performance of Coliwi’s cellulose/polyester and polyester-based products was the most frequently cited reason for interest in switching suppliers.

The Solvent Compatibility Question

A significant number of visitors were dealing with wipes that degraded when used with IPA, acetone, or other cleaning solvents — either losing structural integrity, leaving residue, or both. The compatibility of Coliwi’s product range with the full spectrum of industrial cleaning agents was a consistent differentiator in these conversations. The ability to use one wipe across multiple cleaning tasks — dry wiping, wet wiping, and solvent-assisted cleaning — reduces SKU complexity and procurement overhead in ways that matter to facilities managing large cleaning programs.

The Cost-Per-Clean Calculation

The most sophisticated procurement visitors were the ones who came with a cost-per-clean question rather than a unit price question. They understood that a wipe that lasts through more uses, sheds less, and handles more tasks per sheet has a lower real cost than a cheaper wipe that requires more sheets per task and more re-cleaning events. The live product demonstrations at the booth — showing absorption performance, wet strength, and debris shedding side by side with generic alternatives — made this argument concrete rather than theoretical.

What the Show Confirmed About the Market

CIOSH 2026 confirmed something we’ve been seeing in our customer conversations for the past two years: the industrial wiping market is maturing. Buyers are becoming more sophisticated about what they’re specifying, more aware of the downstream costs of poor wipe performance, and more willing to pay a modest premium for a product that actually solves the problem rather than just filling the consumables budget line.

That maturation is good for Coliwi and good for WIPESTAR. Both brands are built on the same manufacturing foundation — ISO-certified materials, strict quality control, and the kind of product development process that involves actual production workers and technicians, not just lab specifications. The team behind both brands has spent years working directly with customers in semiconductor, pharmaceutical, automotive, and precision manufacturing to understand what cleaning problems actually look like on the production floor — and that understanding shows in the products.

Next Stop: Global Semiconductor Industry Expo, Chongqing — May 2026

CIOSH was the first major show of the year for Coliwi. The next one is coming up in May: the 8th Global Semiconductor Industry Expo in Chongqing. The semiconductor sector is one of the most demanding environments for cleaning consumables — ISO Class 5 cleanrooms, 12-inch wafer handling, ESD-sensitive assembly, and contamination control requirements that leave no margin for error. It’s also one of the sectors where the gap between a generic wipe and a properly specified cleanroom consumable is most visible.

We’ll be bringing the full WIPESTAR cleanroom consumables range to Chongqing — wiping cloths, cleanroom swabs, and the specialist products that semiconductor manufacturing requires. If you’re attending the Chongqing show, we’d welcome the conversation.

In the meantime, the full WIPESTAR and Coliwi product catalog is available online. For specific product recommendations, volume pricing, or OEM inquiries, reach our team at info@wipestar.com or +86-755-89616775.
